i’ve heard a lot of people in beauty talk about how they ended up working in beauty because they originally wanted to
work in fashion, but fashion was just too sickening, so they couldn’t really justify it. i sort of relate to this.
i do love fashion, especially fashion research, thinking about all the ways it could be good. but can it be even slightly good? i’m not saying beauty isn’t evil, but cosmetics have this liquid quality to them. we put them on our skin.
some cosmetics even resemble nature. we and beauty can merge into one. we can even eat our beauty.
carrots are just as good as la mer.
but then i find myself crying in space nk at 5pm on a sunday. and bless elliot, makeup artist slash designer,
who just says, “you just need to apply it better.” it’s too overwhelming. i never learned, and never will.
and not even westman atelier can do it for me. i left empty-handed.
i’m easily persuaded, so since i wrote this i already went back to order something. something westman atelier…
